POSITION SUMMARY: To coordinate a Comprehensive School Counseling Program for all students leading to academic success, career awareness, social/personal development, community involvement and multicultural/global citizenship development.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: L- Light Work: Required to push, pull or lift up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow State Board rules, Code of Ethics, School Board policies, and appropriate state and federal statutes.
- Knowledge and understanding of child development and the unique needs and characteristics of students served.
- Knowledge and understanding of school counseling principles, programs, and services.
- Knowledge of community resources and services available for student assistance.
- Ability to counsel and assist students, parents, and school personnel in the resolution of problems in student learning, behavior, and mental health.
- Ability to analyze and use data.
- Ability to verbally communicate and consult with parents, school personnel, and the community.
- Ability to maintain sensitivity to diverse populations.
Computer Skills
Basic understanding and knowledge of use of current technology, as required for the position.
Certificates and/or Licenses
Certification in School Counseling (Grades PK – 12)
