Marion Health is Hiring a Community Education Coordinator Near Marion, IN

Job Summary

Coordinates community education and community benefits programs for the Hospital. Represents the Hospital on community boards of directors, councils, and task forces that deal with health and medical education. Leads the planning and research of the Community Needs Assessment and ensuring of Board approved implementation plans. Serves as lead for community benefit inventory tracking and reporting. Ensures execution of implementation strategies are executed throughout the MGH healthcare system. Provides essential leadership in community health education data, population health for grant development and execution of grant initiatives. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited school of nursing, allied health discipline, or related healthcare discipline or the level of knowledge, problem solving skills, writing skills and maturity normally obtained through the attainment of a Bachelor of Science degree.
  • Five (5) year’s experience in healthcare

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Experience in healthcare Community Benefit, population health or health epidemiology
  • Evidence of writing skills

  • Healthcare related knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively and tactfully communicate with patients and their families and guests, co-workers, managers, providers and other hospital personnel on a one-to-one basis using appropriate grammar, vocabulary and word usage.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills to carry out duties in a professional manner and relate to all levels of the public and personality types.
  • Ability to negotiate effective working relationships and positive resolutions to conflict.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with fellow employees, customers and community members at large.
  • Highly developed computer skills to include proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and proficiently perform computer applications related to department operations and job function.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills in order to manage multiple issues simultaneously combined with ability to effectively prioritize.
  • Ability to be discreet and protect the integrity of any confidential matter or information encountered during the performance of job duties.

Working Conditions

  • Typical office environment with prolonged sitting and occasional standing and walking.
  • Work may be subject to interruptions and occasional high stress levels.
  • Works with highly confidential information which may be proprietary or protected health information.
  • Ability to work extended hours or weekends based on the needs of the department.
  • May attend special functions and meetings at various locations within the hospital and community.
  • Occasional overnight stays.

Physical and Mental Activities, Tools and Equipment

  • Uses computer and other standard office equipment.
  • Extreme concentration and attention to detail.
  • Lifting standard office supplies and equipment.
  • Ability to handle and haul large promotional pieces and trade fair items.
  • Lifting, pushing, pulling, walking, siting, reaching, bending, kneeling or stooping to perform duties in a safe manner.
