Position Title: Mainframe Development
Duration: 12 Months of Contract
Location: Austin, Detroit, or Atlanta (3 days a week)
Our Mainframe Development team supports the creation and enhancement of some of the industry s most innovative and complex systems. This team develops and delivers software solutions to GM customers, dealers, and employees across the globe. Members of this team include industry-leading developers, architects, and designers who use various innovative development methodologies and technologies to successfully deliver solutions, drive business results, and increase customer satisfaction. About the Mainframe Developer role: The Mainframe Developer writes the actual code to build and support GM s systems, applications, and platforms. The Mainframe Developer will work hands-on developing code and participate in multiple projects. Development activities will include updating existing software and/or developing new programs that add business functionality and solve critical business problems. This role will contribute to all development activities in accordance with appropriate methodologies (e.g., Agile, Incremental, Spiral...), and the application of a repeatable, systematic, and quantifiable approach to the development process. Minimum Qualifications: At least 6 years experience writing COBOL, PL/I, ZOS, TSO, VSAM, DB2, IMS, Online Legacy Development, IWS Scheduler, GITHUB, WAZI, Jira, IBM Connect Direct, MFTP, zOS Connect. Hands on experience supporting web operations, network, server infrastructure, most notably across multiple geographically distributed data centers. Proven understanding of security, efficient code reuse, and software design Practical experience with various development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Iterative, Waterfall, etc.) Preferred Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in computer science or another relevant technical field | ||

Typical task breakdown and rhythm Interaction level with team Work environment description Chance for flex hours or remote Chance for extension later Confirm if group participates in GM Contract Worker Shutdown days | They will be assigned tasks for development to support the current project, mainly coding and attending meetings, reviewing requirements, supporting testing efforts, and supporting the deployment efforts when it goes live. Interaction level with others - Working with a lead and other team members that are doing the same development work, 5 other developers including the lead. Work environment Office building, sitting at a desk or in a conference room They can work at either site 3 days on-site in Atlanta, Detroit or Austin. | |
