TitleHaitian Creole Translator/Interpreter Start DateASAP Compensation$36,000 on an annualized basis Location:Marlborough Public Schools District Organizational Relationship Or Line Of AuthorityDirectly responsible to the Registration Center and Translation Services Manager and through him/her to the Superintendent of Schools Statement Of Duties
Responsible for written and oral translation of school documents, including, but not limited to,
School communication to families
Teacher/parent communication
Individual Education Plans
District-wide school messenger
Aiding administration in parent outreach
Ensures all "school to home" communications are translated appropriately.
Maintains electronic data base of all translations
Aids in translation for parents registering in the Parent Outreach Center
Supports the Administrative Assistant in the Registration and Parent Outreach Center
Flexible schedule to include evening parent open houses and conferences
Assumes other duties as may be assigned by the Building Administrators
Qualifications
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Hatian Creole
High School Diploma or equivalent
Strong interpersonal skills as he or she deals directly with the public on a daily basis
Must be able to work well as part of a team
Must be self-motivated, flexible, very well organized
Must be detailed oriented, with analytical and problem solving skills, along with customer service abilities and other related characteristics
Be familiar with computers and computer software programs particularly Excel and Microsoft Office including Microsoft Outlook. Ability with data base programs such as Aspen are a plus. Be familiar with using the Internet.
Responsible for other general duties as indicated by the Communications Coordinator, Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.
