Marriott San Diego Gaslamp Quarter is Hiring a Loss Prevention Officer - On Call Near San Diego, CA

THIS IS AN ON-CALL (AS NEEDED BASIS) POSITION THAT WILL WORK SHIFTS GENERALLY FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS AND ON FORCASTED BUSY DAYS THAT COINCIDE WITH BASEBALL GAMES. SHIFTS START AS EARLY AS 3PM AND SHIFTS THAT ENDS AS LATE AS 3AM, INCLUDING WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS.

Candidates need to be able to work at least 2 days a month (Friday and Saturday), but can request additional shifts.

Overview:

Responsible for the safety and security of the hotel not limited to, but including associates, guests, company property and company assets.

Responsibilities:

The following is just a few of the responsibilities of the position:

  • Provides basic customer service and courtesies to enhance the guests’ stay.
  • Smile and greet every guest (15/5 rule).
  • Thank the guest for their business when appropriate.
  • Practice proactive hospitality by anticipating their needs and being flexible in responding to them.
  • Be knowledgeable about the hotel.
  • Utilize the L.E.A.R.N. model to own & resolve complaints.
  • Report defects in the hotel including shortages of equipment & supplies.
  • Assists with maintaining cleanliness standards.
  • Provides services to guests such as delivering housekeeping items, responding to maintenance problems, etc. after those departments are closed.
  • Interviews Guests and Associates as required for the safety and welfare of all.
  • Assists Guests with information, directions, or any other assistance needed.
  • Assists other Departments with the general operation of the Hotel, ie…(traffic control, crowd control, access to secured areas, personnel escorts, money escorts, etc…).
  • Testify in a hearing, (ie…court of law).
  • Evidence Custodian, (making sure all evidence is properly handled and maintained in a secure and safe manner).
  • Conducts surveillance for the safety of all Guests and Associates when necessary; be proficient with the DX7100 digital video recorder.
  • Regularly patrols building, grounds and parking area of the Hotel.
  • Assists with guest problems and complaints.
  • Examines doors, windows, and corridors to determine that they are secure. Unlocks those doors necessary for the AM shift.
  • Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles and apprehends or expels person engaging in suspicious or criminal acts. Occasionally required to make arrests.
  • Assists staff with controlling intoxicated guests.
  • Maintains daily report and incident/accident reports as needed.
  • Provides guest transportation as needed.
  • Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
  • Sounds alarm or calls police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons. Permits authorized persons to enter property.
  • Records date such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment for use of supervisory staff.
  • Maintain a good relationship with the local law enforcement officers.
  • Keep and handle security keys with access to sensitive areas.
  • Check required reading boards, function sheets, and pass down logs for any important information for the day.
  • Performs any duty necessary for the good of the department.
  • Performs all duties as assigned by your Supervisor.
  • Conducts daily/weekly inventories of the Hotels First Aid Supplies.
  • Collects used Ving cards from the Room Attendant Carts bi-weekly.
  • Performs other duties as developed, directed or assigned.
