Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY
The Host/Hostess of Food Services provides quality food and nutritional services to Marshall Medical Center's residents/patients. Ensures patient food preferences and diet restrictions are made a priority when processing meal orders and that appropriate foods are prepared and delivered under the prescribed diet. The Host/Hostess is passionate about food service and hospitality, demonstrates service commitment and enjoys 1:1 contact with patients. In addition, this position performs accurate clerical support to the Food Services department, assists as needed with food service-related duties such as food preparation, assistance in the cafeteria and dish washing. Consistently adheres to the proper safety and sanitation guidelines.
Education/Licensure/CertificationPOSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- College level nutritional courses strongly preferred
- Previous experience with special modified diets required
- Must be able to multi-task in an active and dynamic environment with frequent interruptions
- Experience in Food and Nutrition Services (preferably hospital) preferred
- Working knowledge of CBORD systems, Paragon and Microsoft products, including Windows, Word and Excel, strongly preferred
- Superior customer service and listening skills
- Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal and creative thinking skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
- Must be detail oriented with the ability to prioritize workload and complete assigned projects within established time frames
- Ability to read, write and understand directions in the English language
- Must be able to do simple multiplication and division
- Teamwork oriented; a self-starter with a strong work ethic and a history of dependability and punctuality
- Must have the physical characteristics to meet the demands of the position (see physical assessment)
