JOB SUMMARY The Dental Hygienist works in conjunction with a dentist to meet the oral health needs of patients, while keeping the patient’s care, comfort and safety as the primary concern. The Dental Hygienist assesses the oral health of the patient, teaches patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies, removes hard and soft deposits from all surfaces and applies preventive materials to the teeth while maintaining policies and procedures consistent with the Family Health Center and Marshfield Clinic Health System. JOB QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation. Minimum Required: Associate’s degree in Dental Hygiene. Preferred/Optional: Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene. EXPERIENCE Minimum Required: None Preferred/Optional: Two years’ experience as a Dental Hygienist. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position. Minimum Required: An unrestricted Wisconsin Registered Dental Hygiene License. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. (Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association is required within 3 months of hire.) Local anesthetic State of Wisconsin Certification. Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association at time of hire.
