Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Patient Care Coordinator completes patient care and Appointment Coordinator functions in addition to assisting a designated area with setting goals and ensuring best practice.
This individual may assist with referral dispositions to ensure provider referrals are handled appropriately. The Patient Care Coordinator will provide day-to-day coordination of a specific area to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the operational functions of the area.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Minimum Required : High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of post-secondary courses in Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, or Pharmacology - department specific.
Preferred / Optional : Diploma or Associate degree as a Medical Assistant or Diploma as a Health Unit Coordinator.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required : Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Keyboard, computer, and telephone proficiency.
Preferred / Optional : Experience with customer service. Experience as a Medical Assistant, Appointment Coordinator or Health Unit Coordinator.
CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES
Minimum Required : None
Preferred / Optional : Medical Assistant Certification (CMA) awarded by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA);
or the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) awarded by the American Medical Technologists; or Medical Assistant certified (NCMA) awarded by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) recognition will be grandfathered for staff hired prior to 2 / 15 / 07, provided certification was obtained by 10 / 1 / 07.
