Martz Bus, a leader in motor coach transportation, is currently accepting applications for the position of General Manager – Operations located in Hyattsville, MD (Washington, DC). Martz Bus is family owned and operated and has been in the motor coach industry for over a century.
The General Manager is the top leader/manager at the Martz Maryland location. The GM leads, directs, and coordinates activities of operations and maintenance. The GM provides direct supervision to the Operations Manager. The GM provides daily oversight of the Maintenance Department working closely with the Corporate Director of Maintenance. The GM is the main point of contact for all union issues including grievances, discipline, and labor relations. The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader.
The GM is responsible for ensuring the daily operation schedules are met through direct leadership of the operations leadership team of managers and supervisors. The GM is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the property. The GM works closely with Safety, Training, and Human Resources regarding training, random DOT drug testing, performance management, and employee engagement.
To be considered for the positions viable candidates must have the following requirements: a bachelor’s degree is preferred, five (5) years of management experience in transportation/motor coach/ logistics with a track record of advancement, five (5) years of experience with Department of Transportation regulations and requirements; experience working with unions is highly desirable.
