What are the responsibilities and job description for the Area Director - Group Homes position at Mary T Inc.?
The Mary T Family of Companies is seeking an Area Director to oversee 7 group home locations in Coon Rapids and the surrounding suburbs.
The Area Director is responsible for the management of assigned Supported Living areas overall operations, organizational development, oversight of the specific business model, financial and service outcomes, quality improvement and public reputation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC JOB DUTIES
- Provide support, supervision, and oversight to Program Managers of the homes that this positive supervises
- Develop skills in key areas and develop these skills in staff as assigned by Residential Service Administrator
- Train and oversee Program Managers to assure data collection, program implementation and monthly reviews.
- Oversee program documentation at a high level
- Provide periodic training and oversite to compliance related tasks
- Drive initiatives and follow-up to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
- Ensure overall profitability of the programs
- Play an active role with internal and external committees
- Regular responsibility to be On-Call Administrator.
- Ensure program implements corrective action as necessary, review incident and emergency reports
- Evaluate satisfaction of individuals served by the program and their IDTs.
- Manage effective and consistent communication related to programs both internally and externally
- Provide direct care as required by program needs
- Manage overall program development for assigned caseload
- Facilitate communication with support teams within the company for support and ensure implementation of organization policies and procedures
- Assists in researching the market and executes strategies to advance the organization’s brand.
- Other duties as assigned
SCHEDULE: Primarily daytime hours, Monday-Friday, but flexibility for potential evening/weekend hours is required. This position will also participate in an on-call rotation.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related field
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
- Valid Driver’s License, current auto insurance
- Successful completion of DHS Background study
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Positive Behavior Support Training (CPI); medication administration certification
EXPERIENCE:
- At least 4 years of prior supervisory experience in a group home setting or in a setting with individuals with disabilities
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Strong communication, organizational, collaborative, prioritization and management skills
- Knowledge of 245D and Minnesota or Maryland Department of Health licensing regulations and standards
- Working knowledge of industry regulations pertaining to Vulnerable Adult reporting and licensing requirements
- Ability to maintain professionalism in high stress environments
- Compassion and high level of patience with staff and people we serve
- Understanding diagnosis and treatment plans
- Ability to coach and train staff
- Ability to prioritize and self-direct
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to organize information
- Ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with clients, employees, and outside entities
- Advanced computer skills with proficiency in commonly used programs such as Therap, UKG, When I Work, and Google
- Knowledge and skill in the principles of person-centered thinking and knowledge of client rights
- Knowledge of and ability to operate medical equipment
