Position: Cellar Worker Industry: Winery Status: Full-time Location: Goldendale, WA Direct Supervisor: Cellar Supervisor, Winemaker and Assistant Winemaker About us: Maryhill Winery is located in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, Goldendale WA. We work with 30 varietals in 200 to 30 000 case lots from fruit all over WA/OR. Job Summary: Cellar workers are responsible, as part of the production team, for assisting with the production and bottling of all wines and helping with any cellar-related tasks while following all Maryhill Winery policies and standard operating procedures. Ideal candidates will l be involved in every aspect of production from berry to bottle.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Sanitization and cleaning of tanks and equipment
Clean/ozone barrels, filling/topping and racking barrels, transferring/racking tanks.
Assisting with the operation of pumps and crush/press equipment.
Develop working knowledge of all cellar chemicals and their appropriate uses.
Perform daily and weekly facility and equipment maintenance.
Perform daily and weekly tasks as required by the Production Supervisors.
Bottling line.
Caution and adherence to safety protocol is essential.
The work is mainly in-doors but will include work outside.
This position may include occasional lab work.
Additional task as assigned by supervisory staff.
Skills & Qualifications:
2 year minimum prior winery production experience.
Forklift experience and certification, required.
Working with equipment containing conveyors, moving parts and overhead operation.
Working with electrical/power tools.
This work requires constant use and exposure to hazardous materials.
Working in a wet environment and in confined spaces.
Willing and able to work long hours and overtime as needed.
Strong communication skill both verbal and written.
Basic Arithmetic, adding and subtracting two digit numbers
Measures and Weights, performing operations with units such as cup, pint, and quart; inch, foot, yard; ounce and pound.
Metric System, Knowledge of the metric system units (length, area, volume, capacity, mass and weight) and U.S. equivalents
Ability to multitask and change tasks quickly with exceptional attention to detail.
Adept, highly motivated, and very reliable.
Willing and able to work alone and in a team.
High School Diploma, or equivalent: Minimum requirement.
Must be minimum of 21 years of age.
Valid Driver’s License
Ability to successfully complete a new hire drug/alcohol screening.
Physical Requirements:
Repetitive reaching, grasping, bending, twisting, and lifting.
Able to lift and carry, up to 50 lb. without concern: Frequently.
Able to stand and walk for long period of time: Frequently.
Able to push/pull, up to 50 lb. without concern: Often.
