Clinical Student Placement Program Manager

The Clinical Student Placement Program Manager will be responsible for advancing system-wide processes, digital platforms, and departmental procedures that promote placements for current clinical students and expand clinical student placements for healthcare disciplines. Working closely with the Director of Clinical Student Placement, the Clinical Student Placement Program Manager will identify, create, and support system-wide initiatives that engage and coordinate member sites and preceptors.

Responsibilities:

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Collaborate with the Mass General Brigham member organizations to maintain and expand student placement sites and preceptors, including, but not limited to

a. Collaborate with academic partners to establish opportunities and requirements for clinical placement sites.

b. Establish and maintain a process for ongoing communication and feedback with sites, preceptors, and academic institutions.

2. Engage and provide pathways for clinical site constituents and academic partners to develop and implement innovative student-to-employee talent acquisition models.

3. Use clinical student placement data to support long-range planning efforts that align with the goals of the Clinical Student Placement Office.

4. Establishes, documents, and updates policies and procedures of the department consistent with regulatory and legal compliance requirements

5. Makes day-to-day administrative decisions consistent with the missions of the departments and the hospital and general management principles

6. Effectively hire and manage a team of clinical student placement specialists.

7. Develop system efficiencies and processes to support strengthening of the Central Clinical Placement Office infrastructure.

DIGITAL PLATFORM ADMINISTRATION

1. Establish, coordinate, and monitor standardized digital student placement processes.

2. Implement and provide content expertise for developing and using a system-wide preceptor and capacity database.

3. Collect, analyze, and report department success metrics and utilize data to develop innovative approaches to clinical student placement.

4. Establish an MGB preceptor support and incentive mechanisms, including creating a digital tool kit, resource platform, and webpage.

APP STUDENT PLACEMENT ADMINISTRATION

1. Implement a digital student placement solution for PA clerkships across MGB.

2. Utilize the current Central Clinical Placement (CCP) platform to promote the expansion of APP placements.

3. Engage MGB Provider constituents and expand APP student placement opportunities.

4. Ensure compliance to the terms of Academic Affiliation agreements by academic partners and clinical placement sites.

5. Collaborate with the MGB Office of the Chief Academic Officer to establish methodologies and standards for implementing balanced opportunities for Advanced Practice Provider students by role group with consideration for the needs of other disciplines (med students, house staff, etc.)

6. Establish and chair a forum to foster collaboration and standardization for APP placement across MGB.

SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintain positive public relations through the provision of expert assistance while serving as a resource for MGB student placement with prospective and current students and academic partners.

2. Perform other duties related to the work described herein.

3. Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • 5 years working within an academic healthcare system
  • 3 years of experience leading system-level program initiatives.
  • Bachelors degree required
  • A Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, a Master’s in Business Administration, or an advanced degree in a healthcare practice discipline (MSN, APRN, DNP, PA, etc.) strongly preferred.
  • PMP Certification preferred
  • Prior experience in the management of Advanced Practice Provider clinical education preferred.
  • Experience in program management and the use of program management software preferred.

Skills/Abilities/Competencies:

  • Candidates must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and networking skills and the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge and skills that support the development, implementation, and sustainability of digital platforms, including a preceptor and capacity database, to support the goals of the Office of Clinical Student Placement.
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills: able to gather data, compile information from a variety of disparate sources and manipulate large amounts of data, able to ensure data integrity using quality checks at various points in the process
  • Ability to foster trust and collaboration within all levels of an organization and throughout a complex variety of departments in multiple disciplines when indicated
  • Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills, ability to present data to both business and clinical constituents in a clear, meaningful and concise manner
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and within a team
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to work on multiple projects at once
  • Ability to effectively respond to time-sensitive issues and meet deadlines; takes ownership and accountability for timeliness, accuracy and relationship management
