Massachusetts Eye and Ear is Hiring a Research Fellow - Head and Neck Cancer (Faden Research) Near Boston, MA
The Faden Lab is seeking a highly motivated post-doc to join our team of scientists and clinicians working at the forefront of cancer biomarkers and diagnostics. We design liquid biopsies to non-invasively screen, diagnose, and monitor head and neck cancers and utilize these custom assays to answer translational and clinical questions that advance patient care. Our lab is housed within the Simches Research Center at Mass General Hospital and is affiliated with Mass Eye and Ear, Mass General, Harvard Medical School, and the Broad Institute of MIT. The lab is located within the clinical complex and 15 15-minute walk from the Broad Institute. MGH and MEE are consistently ranked among the best hospitals in the US News and World Report rankings. The Head and Neck Oncology program at MGH and MEE consists of six head and neck oncologic surgeons, two radiation oncologists, three medical oncologists, two dedicated head and neck pathologists, five dedicated head and neck radiologists, and numerous research support staff, seeing 1000 head and neck cancer patients a year. MGH is home to the largest hospital-based research enterprise in the United States with a budget of $928M and ranks 1st among independent hospitals in the amount of annual funding received from NIH. The research community includes more than 2,000 PIs. At MEE, MGH and MGH Cancer Center, there is a robust scientific community in Head and Neck Cancer and cancer research in general. Requires a Ph.D or equivalent in their field of specialty. 1 to 5 years experience preferred.
Experience in cancer cell biology, cancer genomics, computational biology strongly preferred.
Experience in liquid biopsy preferred but not compulsory.
Proficient in routine and complex molecular laboratory techniques
Experience in bioinformatics analyses and competent in Linux, Python, R
Highly motivated
Strong scientific writing as evidenced by first author publications
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Excellent organizational skills and meticulous
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to solve problems efficiently and independently
