Director of Purchasing - Master Trades Group - Columbia MD

As our OPS Team grows and expands, this recently added role will work in a corporate capacity for MTG, over all of our Brands, Acquisitions, locations including the LEN THE PLUMBER HEATING & AIR Division. This Executive Leadership role will work out of our beautiful Columbia MD Headquarters, and travel as needed to our branch locations.
The Director of Purchasing is responsible for vendor management and negotiation for all Plumbing / HVAC commodities, equipment, parts and tools for LTP and its subsidiaries. Under the direction of the SVP of Supply Chain & Operations, this position will provide comprehensive oversight of all internal customer and external supplier partner activities as it relates to planning, strategy, sourcing, contract management, cost management, quality and supply. This position supports the company’s EBITDA objectives by negotiating vendor pricing and rebates, providing executive summary reporting of real-time trends in commodity and equipment spend and safeguard LTP business by leveraging vendor relationships with strategic purchasing. With over 40 vendors across the South, mid-Atlantic, and Midwest LTP and its subsidiaries represent one of the largest material spend in the region for residential trades.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendor community while leveraging MTG’s spending power to maximize best front-end price and ensure back-end rebate / incentive programs are maximized.

• Partner with SVP of Supply Chain & Operations to create monthly spending reports for executive team tracking vendor and subsidiary price adherence.

• Develop value creation opportunities by analyzing and evaluating all channels of spending to achieve margin increase for each subsidiary.

• Partner with business unit leaders and develop strategic sourcing plans by product category and trade.

• Negotiate with vendors to ensure pricing is harmonized across the enterprise and effectively communicate all price increase/decrease along with impact to the organization.

• Ownership of the Purchase-to-Pay process ensuring process compliance and accountability.

• Implement, analyze, and manage supplier performance plans while consolidating vendor base- including scope of cost, quality, KPI's and vendor scorecards.

• Create & manage price lists for MTG and its subsidiaries by aggregating purchasing activities by category across the vendor network.

• Make enquiries and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, and selection, service, support, and availability, and other factors relevant to the organization.

• Analyze the trends and spend in unitary, fixture and commodity markets to understand and ensure that the organization leverages its spending power to achieve best prices across the enterprise.

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION:

• 5-10 years’ experience as a Purchasing Manager in HVAC and Plumbing trade (ideal / preferred)
• Bachelor’s Degree in a technical / business function, MBA preferred.
• Proven background in category / supplier relationship management, cost / price control and vendor negotiations.
• Knowledge and understanding of Purchase-To-Pay process and compliance management.
• Experience in translating vendor terms into robust contract agreements.

QUALIFICATIONS/ABILITIES:

• Strong capabilities in data analytics. Service Titan and Sage InTacct system knowledge would be preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills with ability to identify and implement creative solutions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate internally and externally to accomplish objectives.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and tasks and results driven creative problem solving.
• Customer focused, results driven approach.
• Strong leadership and proven people management skills

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Travel to MTG and affiliate locations up to 25%.

• Travel to vendors when required.
