Position Overview:

The General Manager is a dynamic leader responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our Matchaful cafés. This role requires a passion for matcha, exceptional leadership skills, and a strong focus on maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction. The General Manager will lead a team of dedicated staff, manage operational processes, and drive the growth, team, and success of the café while ensuring alignment with Matchaful’s brand values and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Excellence:

   • Oversee all aspects of café operations, including staffing, inventory management, and financial performance.
   • Ensure adherence to Matchaful’s operational standards and procedures, including food safety, cleanliness, and quality control.
   • Monitor and analyze sales data, customer feedback, and operational metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and growth.

2. Team Leadership and Development:

   • Manage Matchaful Store Managers, conducting weekly meetings, while fostering a positive, collaborative and productive work environment.
   • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support professional development.
   • Lead by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic, exceptional customer service, and a passion for matcha. 

3. Customer Experience:

   • Ensure that every customer receives a memorable and high-quality experience, from the moment they enter the café to their departure.
   • Address and resolve customer concerns or complaints in a timely and professional manner.
   • Implement and uphold customer service standards that reflect Matchaful’s commitment to excellence.

4. Sales and Marketing:

   • Develop and execute local marketing initiatives and promotions to drive foot traffic and increase sales.
   • Collaborate with the marketing team to implement brand strategies and enhance the café’s visibility and reputation.
   • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to stay informed and competitive.

5. Financial Management:

   • Prepare and manage the café’s budget, including forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting.
   • Optimize operational efficiency to achieve financial targets and profitability.
   • Handle cash management and ensure accurate financial transactions and records.

6. Compliance and Safety:

   • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and labor regulations.
   • Conduct regular inspections to maintain a clean and safe working environment for both staff and customers.
   • Implement and monitor safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in a managerial role within the food and beverage industry, preferably in a café or similar environment.
• Strong understanding of matcha and Japanese tea culture is highly desirable.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in financial management, including budgeting and reporting.
• Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining high-quality standards.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of managerial experience in the food and beverage industry.
• Experience with POS systems, inventory management software, and basic financial reporting tools.
