Position Summary The Director, Solidarity Economy Research, Policy & Law will provide strategic, programmatic, fundraising, research, operational, and educational leadership for the Solidarity Economy Research, Policy & Law Project (SERPLP) within the Center for Urban Economic Development. They will develop and disseminate interdisciplinary knowledge about urban economic development that could improve the quality of life in Metropolitan Chicago and other urban areas and lead efforts to develop research strategies for addressing urban inequality, with a focus on their benefits for low-income and minority communities. Duties & Responsibilities
Oversees operations of SERPLP, including its research projects, service commitments, and educational activities.
Devises and implements operational policies, monitors and reviews the financial and administrative practices of SERPLP to ensure effective management according to state and federal laws and University and College policies and practices.
Represents SERPLP and CUED in contacts with other campus departments, community organizations, and government agencies.
Develops and reviews SERPLP’s annual budget and other budgets and/or reports as required by CUPPA.
Plans, assigns and reviews work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met. Hires, trains, develops and manages staff to ensure that a qualified staff exists to meet group objectives.
Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
