MATIC is Hiring a Senior Research Engineer Near Mountain View, CA
At Matic, we're leveraging advanced technology to address this problem. We've started by reimagining what autonomous floor cleaning robots can achieve using AI and computer vision with our flagship product. From there, our goal is to continue automating other forms of household labor, shipping realistic, affordable, and privacy-first robots to our users while building iteratively toward more complex tasks and capabilities over time.
About the role:As a Senior Research Engineer at Matic, you'll work with a talented, seasoned team building novel algorithms to help our robot understand and interact with its environment. You will push the boundaries of robot perception, enabling endearing robots to change the way people manage household tasks
The ideal candidate has a passion for solving problems and deploying those solutions to real, working products. We’re looking for detail-obsessed “idea machines”, able to push beyond the current state of the art to break new ground in robotic perception.
What You'll Do
- Enable Level 5 autonomy in consumer robotics.
- Lead core projects and mentor junior engineers
- Translate open-ended, real-world problems into well-defined machine learning problems
- Architect fast, robust software where testing, debugging, and visualization are foundational
- Innovate on novel neural network architectures and build scalable machine learning infrastructure to train on large datasets
- Bachelor's or Master's degree computer science, mathematics/applied mathematics, computer engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or a related field; graduate degree work is a plus
- 3 years of experience working on applied problems in computer vision, machine learning, or robotics
- Proficient in systems programming with Rust and/or C ; fluency in Python
- Strong software development and team collaboration skills
- Track record of success in leading teams to successful delivery of key projects or products
- Publication of impactful papers in machine learning, computer vision, robotics, computer science, or related fields is a plus.

- You love diagnosing complex technical issues
