Senior Data Engineer (Ads, BizOps & LLMs)

Job Description:

We are seeking a super smart, fast-moving data engineer with strong analytics and computer science fundamentals to help shape the tech stack, processes and procedures in both the R&D and production stages of our software development lifecycle.

As a key member of the engineering team, this role will involve hands-on development, maintenance of data pipelines and LLM / data science leadership.

Role responsibilities:

• Build/own pipelines that move business systems data (HRIS, Finance, CRM etc), Ad Platforms (Meta, TikTok, Google, Snap) and AdTech SaaS (eg Northbeam, Triple Whale) into our data warehouse

• Write efficient, reusable, and reliable code, primarily in SQL and Python.

• Implement streaming data architectures using tools like kafka, temporal.io, airbyte, snowflake, and others

• Make smart tech choices about tools and platforms to be used, balancing trade-offs thoughtfully

• Own data quality/observability using tools like Metaplane

• Work closely with others, including employees, clients and vendors to make sure we’re building the right things the right way to have real impact on the business

• Support self-service by analysts and employees using tools like hex.tech

• Troubleshoot and resolve data processing issues and optimize for performance

• Stay updated on emerging trends in data engineering and recommend/deploy improvements to current processes.

Qualifications:

• Has developed/owned/maintained ETL pipelines for internal business systems (for example: Rippling, HubSpot, Monday.com, Quickbooks/NetSuite, and similar).

• 4 - 7 years of experience in engineering / data engineering

• Expert-level knowledge of Python & SQL

• Has built batch and streaming data pipelines

• Proven track record of leading data projects end to end with multiple systems and stakeholders involved. Bonus points for having led a small team.

• Bachelor's degree or higher from a highly selective university, with a strong preference for Computer Science, Physics, or Engineering.

• Early stage startup experience (has done the 0-1 journey at least once, ideally at a YC company)

• Nice-to-haves:

• Experience with Ad Platform APIs (Meta, TikTok, Snap, Google) and related terminology (CAC, ROAS, CPC, CVR, Attribution, Incrementality, etc)

• Working knowledge of LLM / ML-ops tooling (LangChain, Vellum or similar) and architectures (prompt chaining, evaluators, version control, etc).

• Experience working directly with non-technical folks to develop and refine complex analytics/reports

• 4 - 7 years of experience in engineering / data engineering

Other:

• Salary $100k - $160k

• Visa sponsorship available

• Can do transfers, but must currently have right to work in US.
