Mavis Discount Tire – Sr. Construction Project Manager

Put your career into high gear with Mavis Discount Tire! We’re looking for a full-time Sr. Project Manager to join Team Mavis at our Corporate Offices in Millwood, New York. With over 2,000 retail locations, Mavis is the one of the largest independently-held tire sales and automotive repair chain in the United States.

About the Position of Project Manager

As a member of the Real Estate Department, the successful candidate will manage the construction of assigned new retail stores while effectively communicating project status and issues to upper management. The Sr. Project Manager is also responsible for managing all aspects of assigned projects which include interfacing with the various internal departments, project team members, contractors, attorneys and municipalities to ensure on-time opening with budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or related field
• Minimum 5-10 years’ experience owner side retail construction project management
• Strong working knowledge of construction practices and procedures
• Retail chain rollout experience preferred
• Experience in remodeling open businesses, building from the ground up and building takeovers
• Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
• Strong ability to negotiate with contractors and hold them accountable for delivering projects on time on budget and meeting Mavis quality of work standards
• Experienced at compiling and following strict budgets
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and project schedules
• Able to manage contractors and consultants throughout the approval and construction process
• Accurate and precise attention to detail
• Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions
• Proficient in Word, Excel and Power Point
• Able to build solid relationships with team members, vendors, and customers

Duties & Responsibilities

• Managing multiple projects with full responsibility for schedule, cost management, and quality of the completed project. Total Project Ownership.
• Manage A/E consultants through the construction process
• Supervise construction project progress and provide reports on timeline, progress, and adjustments
• Use scheduling skills to accurately project new store open dates
• Ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget
• Process invoices and pay applications for assigned projects
• Ability to travel for site visits
• Perform final punch list inspections and ensure all work adheres Mavis standard of quality
