Maxim Healthcare Staffing- Phoenix, AZ is Hiring a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) Near phoenix, AZ

The Teacher for the Visually Impaired provides students with appropriate learning experiences and activities designed to help them in social, intellectual, and emotional growth. The Teacher for the Visually Impaired organizes and implements an instructional program for visually impaired students.Enables students to develop competencies and skills to function in a successful and positive manner. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develops and implements lesson plansPrepares lessons that accommodate learning stylesPrepares, implements, and evaluates an educational plan for each student based on individually assessed needsInstructs students with visual impairments (VI) in a variety of assistive technology devices and software designed for blind/VIAssists in the selection of instructional materials and equipmentTranscribes materials and lessons in braille for blind students or large print for VI studentsAssesses student learning styles and use results to plan educational activitiesConducts assessments of student progress and achievement using testing methodologyCompiles reports, records, and documents as requiredParticipates in IEP team meetings with parents, teachers, students, and other school district staffWorks in coordination with other teachers in planning and developing the programCompletes progress reports on each studentFollows school district policies and proceduresMinimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferredValid state teaching certificate as required by state regulationsOne year experience as a teacher for the visually impaired preferredComplies with all relevant professional standards of practice Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable Current CPR if applicable TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) Must meet all federal, state and local requirements Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required Computer proficiency required Must be at least 18 years of age
