Responsibilities

MaxLinear is seeking a Staff Firmware Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will focus on the following:

• Responsible for firmware architecture, including decisions on hardware vs software implementation
• Design, develop, and debug embedded firmware solutions and algorithms
• Communicate software solutions through detailed documentation and diagrams
• Identify schedules and resources needed to meet project deadlines
• Closely follow Firmware Development Life Cycle best practices
• Work closely with platform hardware engineers to validate firmware on FPGA and HW devices

Qualifications

• Solid working experience in embedded firmware development
• Excellent C/C programming and debugging skills
• Familiar with I2C, GPIO, PMBUS, SPI, and SCPI protocols
• Understanding of hardware concepts, including analog, digital, and circuit theory
• Understanding setup of test equipment including oscilloscopes, DMM, power supplies, multimeter
• Strong organizational, project management, and execution skills and a demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• BS in Electrical Engineering or related 6 years of experience, or MS 3 years of experience, or Ph.D.

Compensation and Benefits

MaxLinear has a Total Compensation philosophy which includes base salary and annual discretionary bonus eligibility and many positions also include stock-based compensation.

MaxLinear expects to offer a starting base salary within the range of: $113,300 to $175,950 Annually

The actual starting base salary will be determined by the match to certain role-related criteria such as educational degree(s) or equivalent, relevant work experience, skillset needed for the role, and geographic location; this is not an all-inclusive list as some roles may require unique skills or experience.
