If you enjoy working with team members whose defining characteristics are exceptional client service, initiative, professionalism, responsiveness, and adaptability, you may be the person we are seeking to join our Pricing and Legal Project Management department in our Chicago office as an Client Rates Management Analyst.

The Client Rates Management Analyst is responsible for the proper implementation and maintenance of client pricing agreements to ensure that invoices are accurately priced.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions: 

  • Executes and maintains client-pricing agreements including assigning rates for new timekeepers and ensuring that new matters are setup with the proper pricing structure
  • Reviews engagement letters for new matters to ensure proper tracking and setup
  • Implements pricing related information contained in client billing guideline documents
  • Prepares client specific reporting as defined by the client agreement
  • Performs analysis of existing client arrangement to give an overview of the key financial aspects of the agreement
  • Manages and maintains pricing agreement guideline data in Mayer Brown’s Global Pricing System and acts as the primary contact person on issues and upgrades to the system
  • Monitors and actions any requests that are sent to the Pricing/Rates Management team
  • Maintains a collaborative and proactive working relationship with others in the Pricing and LPM team, Finance and Accounting department, Business Development and Firm Practice Leaders and lawyers
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives

Qualifications

Education/Training/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business, required

Professional Experience: 

  • Minimum of two years of related experience, required
  • Experience working within a partnership essential or law firm setting, preferred
  • Experience working with billing rate arrangements, preferred

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, required
  • Prior experience with law firm technology including Aderant, preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL, preferred

Performance Traits

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with all levels of the Firm and outside vendors
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment and effectively support the demanding needs of the Firm
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines with shifting priorities
  • Must be a self-starter with a high level of initiative
  • Strong customer service skills, able to anticipate needs and exercise independent judgment
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects
  • Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion
  • Exercises solid strategic thinking and problem-solving skills

Physical Requirements:

  • May require occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.
