Caring for 33,000 patients per year, the Mankato Hospital Emergency Department is Mayo Clinics Southwest Minnesota regional hub site and is a level 3 trauma center. The Mankato site is the main training/orientation site for Mayo Clinics EM NP/PAs within the region. NP/PAs provides 24/7 practice coverage alongside their physician colleagues. The NP/PA serves as an independent provider, collaborates with physicians and works with a variety of other healthcare professionals. The NP/PA will provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescription of pharmacological agents, and patient education. The NP/PA will also perform a variety of procedures including laceration repair, I&D, lumbar puncture, intubation, non-invasive airway management, fracture reductions, procedural sedation, critical care management, etc with opportunities to work in solo practice at critical access hospitals. Our practice is unique in that we start with an onboarding process that assesses your skillset in order to provide the proper training thats tailored specifically to you. Mayo Clinic values the skills and expertise of the NP/PA in Emergency Medicine and our goal is for you to be able to practice safely and confidently as a sole provider in one of our critical access hospitals. QualificationsNurse Practitioner: Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP
OR
Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice.
An unrestricted prescriptive authority in Minnesota, (Minnesota Board of Medical Examiners and DEA). BLS, ACLS (CALS and PALS or ATLS) certifications are preferred by the time of starting the position and are required by completion of orientation. Emergency Medicine Fellowship, or 2 years of Emergency Medicine experience is preferred but not required.
