The law firm of MB Law Group LLP seeks a full-time experienced legal assistant. Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a legal assistant, preferably in civil litigation, and insurance defense is highly preferred. We are looking for a team member who is hard working, has excellent written and verbal communication skills, pays close attention to detail, exercises good judgment, and has strong organizational skills.
We are located in downtown Portland and will initially require in-office working for training, with a gradual transition to a hybrid remote work schedule with flexible hours.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Must be familiar with rules of civil procedure and deadlines in local, state, and federal levels. Knowledge of Washington rules desirable
· Experience with e-filing in Oregon state and federal courts. Experience in Washington courts desirable
· Proficient in the use of Outlook, Word, and Adobe, and LSS document management system is a plus
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and grammar, spelling, and punctuation
· Ability to multi-task independently
Responsibilities:
· Assist multiple attorneys
· E-filing in Oregon and Washington state and federal courts
· Prepare and finalize documents for e-filing as required and per local rules
· Familiarity with civil arbitration procedures and filings
· Proofread and finalize correspondence, pleadings, and discovery checking for appropriate formatting, spelling, grammar, and labeling exhibits as required
· Ensure that all attachments, exhibits and enclosures are included with emails and mailings
· Communicate with outside law firms to schedule depositions and arrange for court reporters and videographers
· Draft some pleadings and correspondence
· Record and track deadlines through docketing and calendar system
· Make travel arrangements for attorneys
· Proactively demonstrate effective teamwork and assist other legal assistant and paralegal as required
· Prepare and process outgoing mail, faxes and email, and arrange for overnight deliveries
· Maintain and update calendars and docketing for assigned attorneys
