Job Summary:
The Technical Sales Manager is responsible for organizing, supervising, training, and directing all activities within the company’s Technical Sales Department.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Maximize and ensure follow-through of all pertinent estimating and technical activities to the appropriate individuals and branches.
• Manage, hire, evaluate, and train department employees; plan, assist, and direct work with a focus on face-to-face mentorship and guidance.
• Collaborate daily with direct Tech Sales reports to maximize their efforts and expertise, assisting in overcoming daily challenges and making timely decisions.
• Work closely with the Manager and Account Managers (AMs) in the Tech Department to build strong customer relationships.
• Manage, train, and participate in the daily support, order execution and sourcing special order products for AMs and branches, ensuring hands-on involvement.
• Suggest and implement improvements in the sales administration process.
• Create and maintain the integrity and consistency of pricing matrices.
• Compile sales and market data, make recommendations based on current trends, and develop new sales programs for the department.
• Coordinate uniformity in price quotations and profitability among inside and outside branches.
• Develop and implement companywide product and process training both online and in person, working closely with Sales and Operations to execute the desired vision.
• Conduct onsite sales calls with AMs and independently as needed.
• Establish goals and KPIs for the Tech Sales department.
• Participate in local organization events and training sessions.
• Collaborate with branches to participate in shared CSR work at the counter as needed.
• Oversee the expansion and success of the forming side of the McCann Business, managing accuracy of takeoffs, assisting in field calls to close new work or address ongoing concerns, and ensuring timely and proper rental closures. Periodically conduct forming training sessions with customers and staff and set up displays.
• Schedule and attend vendor training sessions, meetings, luncheons, or events as needed or requested.
• Update the CRM software (TDF) and ensure calls are logged by the department, expanding its use and capabilities through direct oversight.
• Process all pricing discrepancy credits and establish corrective measures to prevent future billing mistakes.
• Participate in regular reviews of the estimating and technical sales functions with the Light Equipment & Supply Sales team.
• Appraise staff performance and ensure the team meets the goals and objectives of the department.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or two years of related experience and/or training. High level of problem-solving skills, ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, analytical and interpretive skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and proficiency in mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, algebra, and geometry). Ability to understand and disseminate technical product documentation. Basic blueprint reading skills.

Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to sit; occasionally required to stand and walk; occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Noise level is low to moderate at times.
