We are committed to excellence and sustainability in our products and processes. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Fill Crew Leader to join our Manufacturing team. THE ROLE The Fill Crew Leader plays a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the filling crew in the Paint Manufacturing department. This position focuses on ensuring efficient production processes, maintaining quality standards, managing scheduling, and facilitating communication among team members. As a player-coach, the Fill Crew Leader actively participates in fill crew duties while supervising processes. Although the Fill Crew Leader does not have direct supervisory responsibilities over personnel, they hold the authority to discipline and correct behavior on the floor. This role oversees both large batch and small batch fill lines. This position reports to the Production Manager. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS The duties include, but are not limited to the following. Other duties may also apply, as necessary.
Leadership and Supervision: guide and instruct team members on production procedures and standards, to ensure efficient workflow and productivity. You will monitor work quality and performance, providing constructive feedback, and foster a positive and collaborative work environment focused on growth and development.
Operational Oversight: Manage daily filling operations for both large and small batch lines. This includes prioritizing fill order to ensure deadlines are met, monitoring performance of filling equipment. Active participation in filling operations is also expected.
Quality Control: Participate in regular inspections and quality checks alongside the fill crew to ensure all filled containers meet quality standards. Collaborate with the quality control team to conduct checks, documenting and reporting any deviations or issues.
Process Coordination: Coordinate with production team to align filling activities and staffing with overall production goals and deadlines. Monitor inventory levels of fill supplies, report shortages to the Production Manager, procure necessary materials for daily operations, and assist in receiving raw materials as needed.
Scheduling: Develop and maintain daily and weekly staffing schedules, ensuring adequate coverage and optimal productivity.
Process Improvement: Identify and suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency and product quality
Safety and Compliance: Enforce adherence to all safety protocols, procedures, and regulatory requirements, promoting a culture of safety and modeling safe practices.
Communication and Reporting: Serve as the primary contact for the filling crew, facilitating clear communication and addressing operational concerns. Maintain accurate production documentation and provide accurate progress updates.
Discipline and Behavior Correction: Monitor floor activities to ensure compliance with company policies, address inappropriate behavior promptly and professionally, and document incidents and corrective actions, reporting to the Production Manager as necessary.
Team Collaboration: Foster a cooperative work environment by coordinating with team members and departments, delegating responsibilities fairly, and assisting in training new employees on production procedures and safety practices. Lead by example, demonstrating effective work habits and a commitment to quality, and communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding progress and issues.
Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organized filling area to ensure high standards of hygiene and operational efficiency. Oversee and participate in routine cleaning and maintenance activities, regularly inspect equipment for maintenance needs, and promptly report malfunctions or breakdowns.
QUALIFCATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in manufacturing is a plus
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in production or manufacturing environment, preferably in paint or chemical industries
Minimum 2 years of Supervisory or Management experience
Proven ability to manage operational processes and ensure quality standards
Strong organizational and multitasking skills, including experience with scheduling
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to safety and compliance
Proven ability to work in a team environment - as an active team member, group facilitator and a leader
Problem solving skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to perform manual tasks, including lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and working in a manufacturing environment.
Must be able to traverse the production facility
Must be able to lift 75 lbs
Ability to operate manufacturing and plant equipment (i.e.: forklift, electric pallet jack, dispensers, etc.)
