POSITION OVERVIEW:

Packaging Innovation is essential to our growth ambitions and sustainability goals. The Packaging Innovation Team has passion for exploring new technologies, materials, and designs that will advance sustainable, consumer-preferred packages while also acting as stewards of the brand. This Packaging Developer role is responsible for supporting packaging innovation projects in the North America region across our Consumer and Food Service business segments.

This position is responsible for supporting efforts that include technology exploration, consumer learning, selection of materials, package design, determination of performance requirements, setting quality standards, creating packaging specifications, supporting line trials at manufacturing facilities, and coordinating activities with a range of business partners from Procurement to Operations. The role requires a combination of creativity, problem solving, technical knowledge, business acumen, project management, and cross-functional collaboration.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Projects will require experience in the design, development and commercialization of plastic, glass and flexible containers for consumers, manufacturing, distribution and customers. This role includes:

• Interaction across multiple levels, working cross-functionally, managing project planning activities, and providing technical guidance
• Providing package design, development, material selection, and commercialization activities
• Supporting multiple projects with accountability to deliverables and milestones
• Planning and prioritizing work to ensure deadlines & customer expectations are met
• Applying established standards, controls, and processes

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Package Engineering, Packaging Design, Packaging Technology or an alternate relevant technical discipline
• Minimum of 5 years of packaging development and project management experience as part of a cross functional team within the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry
• Knowledge in the areas of plastic injection molding & injection blow molding, glass, laminated structures, and paper-based materials
• Creative problem solving and solution skills; attention to detail in work
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and teamwork
• Analytical skills to evaluate complex and ambiguous situations
• Business and commercial awareness; ability to influence other business members

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Consumer Products background, Food industry experience
• Manufacturing plant experience
• Experience with ideation processes, consumer learning tools, technology analysis
• Experience with SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, C.A.P.E. palletization software
