Summary
McElroy Metal has an opening for an IT Systems and Network Manager at our Headquarters in Bossier City, LA. This position oversees and manages the network and IT infrastructure of McElroy Metal, ensuring that all systems, servers, and network devices are functioning optimally. This role involves a mix of technical expertise, leadership, and project management skills, and reports to the Chief Information Officer.
About the Division
The Bossier City location was established in 1963, and is the location for our corporate departments, as well as our first manufacturing facility and a McElroy Service Center onsite.

8:00 am – 5:00 pm M-F
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the organization’s network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and VPNs, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Administer and maintain server systems, both physical and virtual, including patching, upgrades, and capacity planning.
- Lead a team of IT administrators, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Develop and enforce IT policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with security standards and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor system performance and reliability, proactively addressing issues to minimize downtime and maintain business continuity.
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and endpoint security solutions.
- Oversee backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure the availability and integrity of critical business data.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers to manage IT services, hardware procurement, and software licensing.
- Plan and execute IT infrastructure projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new technology deployments.
- Maintain documentation of network and system configurations, procedures, and inventory.
- Collaborate with other departments to understand and support their IT needs effectively.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance IT infrastructure and security.
Experience/Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10 years of experience in network administration or systems administration.
- 5 years of experience in a managerial or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.) and systems administration (Linux, Windows Server, etc.).
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
- In-depth understanding of security practices, firewalls, and network security protocols.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
