The Company: McKinley is a highly respected child welfare organization, conveniently located in the beautiful city of San Dimas, with 4 additional locations throughout Southern California. McKinley’s comprehensive array of programs and services – which touch nearly 1,500 lives annually – include short term residential treatment program (STRTP), Foster Care, Adoptions, Mental Health Services and Special Education. The Position: The role of the clinician focuses on the provision of mental health treatment and prevention services to referred and assigned clients and their families by the particular school and meet appropriate criteria. These individuals are experiencing behavioral and/or mental health issues in the school, home, and community settings and have been brought to the attention primarily by school personnel. The clinician serves as a clinical advocate for clients (and their families) and makes recommendations for mental health support services needed, while actively working collaboratively with school personnel.

This position will serve the desert region: Beaumont to Palm Springs

Compensation and Benefits:

The pay range we’re offering is $72,000 annually.

Qualifications:

  • Valid registration or licensed with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (ACSW, AMFT, LCSW, LMFT, APCC, LPCC)
  • Prior mental health service experience strongly preferred
  • Prior DMH mental health experience preferred
  • Word Processing; Excellent Writing Skills, General Office Skills; Typing of 50 WPM
  • Bi-Lingual (Spanish) highly preferred
  • Must pass pre-employment physical exam, TB and drug screening
  • Ability to commute to various sites on campus
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and lift 10 pounds

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary clinician for a caseload of 15-18 school-based and/or community-based children and their families.
  • Provide mental health services including individual and family counseling, specialized groups as needed in the schools and or community.
  • Consult with an interdisciplinary team for initial assessments and treatment needs.
  • Meet with each child/family for individual/family therapy at a minimum of a weekly basis (or as clinically indicated).
  • Plan, implement and provide mental health services to the clients and their families.
  • Believe that people can change; demonstrate an ability to set limits and intervene appropriately to meet the needs of the children and families served.
  • Maintain close contact with school personnel regarding each client's academic performance and behavior.
  • Meet regularly with an interdisciplinary team to discuss treatment objectives ,status and progress.
  • Provide crisis intervention as requested
  • Remain on call for clinical emergencies.
  • Provide direct services to children and families in the school, home and/or in the community.
  • Participate in agency's on-call rotation.
  • Participate in chart reviews and other QA functions.
  • Maintain all required documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with contractual and regulatory standards.
  • Attend all required supervision, department and agency meetings.
  • Take responsibility for on-going development of professional skills.
  • Attend all required agency training.
  • Participate in the agency’s Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) plan as assigned.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
