Our nonprofit telecommunications client is seeking a finance manager to join their team. In this role, you will oversee and manage the accounting function of the organization’s assets and funds, and maintenance of all financial and fiscal records, and related information.

This is an onsite position, 3 days a week in the office. Candidates must reside within a commutable distance to Honolulu, HI.

Responsibilities

• Create the annual budget and budgetary reports as requested by the CEO, staff, and board treasurer
• Verify the accuracy and completeness of the posting and balancing of the general ledger (GL) and subsidiary ledgers, including cash receipts, cash disbursements, and Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) invoicing
• Prepare quarterly and monthly financial statements and other reports as requested. Compare actual expenditures/revenues to budgeted amounts and follow up on significant variances
• Prepare cash projections quarterly and/or as requested by the Board of Governors Finance Committee
• Maintain and reconcile certain GL accounts as instructed by external auditors. Prepare and oversee monthly GL adjusting entries in preparation for closing the month
• Prepare and distribute budget worksheets and department GL histories to managers for facilitation of the annual budget process. Collect and input information and run an annual budget report for the CEO and the board
• Coordinate the External Financial Audit and prepare schedules and analyses as required
• Complete the monthly depreciation schedule and make the necessary journal entries
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures manual
• Manage and balance the petty cash fund on a regular basis
• Maintain the business insurance, service contracts for the equipment, rents and leases, and real property tax exemption on new leases
• Ensure the proper coordination of reporting and payment of monthly General Excise tax
• Prepare and manage annual/monthly membership dues billing and collections
• Represent the secretariat and scribe in Board of Governors meetings
• Work on special projects and other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience
• Management/supervisory experience
• Knowledge of general accounting principles, and policy/procedure development and implementation
• Prior experience exercising confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive information
