McLean Hospital is Hiring a Data Manager Near Belmont, MA

The Data Analyst in Bioinformatics will play a critical role in the Daskalakis and Jajoo laboratories by developing and implementing strategies for organizing, downloading, storing, and analyzing omic data efficiently. The Data Analyst will manage extensive sets of genomic and transcriptomic data derived from a wide variety of translational studies.
The Data Analyst will be responsible for downloading genomic and transcriptomic data from various translational studies. This role involves arranging, organizing, and standardizing data across different studies to ensure consistency. Additionally, the Data Analyst will coordinate with other team members to ensure data is processed accurately and efficiently, apply the existing laboratory pipeline to the processed data, and generate figures and visualizations to aid in presentations, articles, and literature.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
  • High degree of computer literacy; knowledge of data management programs.
  • Proficiency in Bash scripting and Linux environment.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and figure generations using languages such as Python and R.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required for working with the team
  • Good oral and written communication skills; careful attention to detail.
  • Analytical skills and the ability to resolve technical or research problems and issues and to interpret the acceptability of data results.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize a variety of tasks.
  • Must be able to consistently demonstrate McLean Values of integrity, compassion and respect, diversity and teamwork, excellence and innovation in their work activities and interactions.

Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills, detail-oriented.
  • Ability to methodically record data and analyze data.
  • Ability to perform a variety of routine tests and prioritize work.
  • High level of computer programs, databases, etc.
  • Excellent time management/organizational skills to ensure smooth functioning of the lab
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field. Experience with genomics and trascriptomics is needed.
