POSITION TITLE: Therapist (Full Time)

DESCRIPTION:

The McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center in Syracuse NY seeks to reduce trauma to child abuse victims by providing a safe, child-friendly location where teams of professionals work together to pursue justice and offer treatment. Our specialized trauma facility seeks to hire a clinician to provide evidence-based, trauma-specific therapeutic treatment to children and non-offending caregivers who have been victims of child abuse. The therapist is responsible for the day-to-day services, which includes comprehensive therapy services to victims of child abuse, to include human trafficking and youth exposed to gun violence.

McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center has a culture where self-care is discussed, encouraged, and implemented. Due to the nature of the work, there is a generous time-off package to give staff members time to relax and recharge. Team members have opportunities to participate in national and local continuing education trainings to help refine and strengthen their professional skills. Clinical Supervision will be provided.

RESPONSIBILITES:

- Provide crisis intervention, therapy, and support to individuals and families experiencing trauma 

- Provide a minimum of 20 therapy sessions per week, including after-hours appointments (with last appointment at 6pm).

- Work in collaboration with MDT team members.

- Facilitate groups.

- Provide referrals and systems advocacy as well as medical and advocacy referrals.

- Manage difficult and/or client’s reflecting feelings and respond promptly to client needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Master’s degree in social work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health counseling or related field required.

- NYS license to practice required, or a limited permit with the expectation to acquire licensure within a year of employment and/or when eligible.

- One to three years of postgraduate direct service experience with youth and families preferred.

- Experience with trauma therapy models preferred.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE: Position reports to the Director of Counseling

SALARY RANGE: Starting salary range is $60,000-$70,000 Higher rates available for LCSW and Bilingual/bicultural candidates are encouraged to apply. McMahon Ryan is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Position is open until filled.
