Job Title: TOSA, English Learner Staff Development & Program SupportSalary Range: Licensed Salary Schedule
Reports to: Director overseeing Title III Please note that this position is 192 days with 5 paid holidays, paid sick leave and paid flexible personal leave (3 days per year). If hired after the start of the school year, days and leave are pro-rated. The McMinnville School District provides generous personal and family benefits including medical, dental and vision coverage.Job SummaryAssists the School Improvement/English Language Learner departments with instruction,assessment, curriculum, and staff development within the district and school community.Essential Job Functions
  • Works collaboratively with directors, administrators, and other instructional leaders in the ongoing planning, implementation, development, direction, review, and evaluation of the district’s support for English learners, and migrant students
  • Trained in effective practices to support language learners in language acquisition and content areas to support student growth and achievement
  • Stays current on pedagogy, research, and technology tools for integration and maintains training/trainer certifications to support this student population
  • Works with teams to support teachers, administration, and support staff to progress and strengthen instruction for this student population
  • Assists the directors and/or leads portions of district work to create pacing calendars, align curriculum, design common formative assessments, and provide guidance and support for educator collaboration to support this student population
  • Works collaboratively with other instructional leaders to design and deliver differentiated professional development for staff as directed by the district (e.g., the use of media and/or equipment, technology integration, teaching techniques, instructional strategies, assessment, and curriculum design).
  • Models effective instructional strategies incorporating technology integration and/or best practices in teaching and learning to support this student population
  • Provides teacher feedback and assistance regarding implementing instructional strategies, curriculum design models, lesson planning formats, and technology integration.
  • Assists in mentoring and coaching EL teachers by providing differentiated professional development, facilitating peer observations, planning lessons, and modeling or co-teaching lessons.

Other Job Functions
  • Serves as a resource to administrators, teachers, support staff, and parents.
  • Support alignment to the district strategic plan, integrated plan, building plans, district Title III plan, grants, and other state or federal requirements to support this focal population
  • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
  • Represents the district in meetings and on committees as requested.
  • Performs other related duties as required
Essential Job Requirements - Qualifications
  • Valid Oregon Teaching License with ESOL endorsement.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in ELD curriculum, assessment, and instruction.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff.
  • Strong skills in organization, written and oral communication.
  • Skills with implementation of instructional technology.
  • Recognized as an educational leader.
  • Demonstrated abilities in the identified areas of special assignment.
  • Demonstrated abilities to plan classroom instruction and assessment around district philosophy, goals, and learner outcomes.
  • Bi-lingual preferred but not required
  • Ability to work cooperatively and harmoniously as a team member.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and work without close supervision.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District personnel and the public.
  • Maintains confidential information and the privacy of District staff, students, and families.
  • Carries out work responsibilities effectively under pressure of deadlines, interruptions, and new or emergency situations.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Ability to respect confidential information.
  • Computer skills to include use of word processing programs, database programs and the Google Suite of products.
