Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships with team members
- Monitor timeliness and quality of completion of repair work orders
- Assist in managing and inspecting the physical property including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical and life safety systems
- Determine work required to above systems regulary
- Assist in providing regular on-going communication with team members in order to create awareness of business objectives, communicate expectations, and recognize performance
- Recommend or arrange for additional services such as painting, repair work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment
- Select and order or purchase new equipment, supplies, and furnishings
- Assist in supervising the day-to-day operations of Engineering and related departments
- Maintain accurate logs and records
- Operate generators and fire pumps as necessary
- Provide emergency response services 24/7
- Repair equipment (e.g., refrigeration, laundry) as necessary
- Ensure all team members have the proper supplies, equipment, and uniforms
- Empower team members to provide excellent customer service, leads by example
- Train team members in safety procedures
- Communicate performance expectations in accordance with job descriptions
- Assist in interviews and hiring of team members with the appropriate skills
- Conduct fire drills and earthquake drills/evacuations on a quarterly basis for compliance
- High school degree (or equivalency) with Hotel/College training preferred
- Stationary Engineer’s license if required by local code
- HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations and general maintenance skills required
- Substantial knowledge of local laws and building codes
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the Engineering or Maintenance or related field
- Hold applicable certificates (Security License, FSD, CPR, etc.)
- Knowledge and ability to read P&L, budget, financial statements
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience working in a labor organized environment preferred
- Effective listening skills to understand and clarify concerns from team members and guests
- Excellent problem solving and creative thinking skills
- Solid background in OSHA regulations, emergency planning and response efforts and follow all legal safety requirements
- Ability to focus attention to performance of tasks despite frequent, stressful, or unusual interruptions
- Ability to de-escalate situations and remain calm under pressure
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
- Excellent time management
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- An aptitude for self-motivation
- A can-do attitude and a hands-on approach
- A flexible schedule that allows availability days, nights, holidays, and weekends based on the demands of the hotel
