MD Anderson provides medical oncology, radiation oncology and surgical oncology services along with a range of supportive programs at all of its Greater Houston area locations. While MD Anderson - The Woodlands treats all types of cancers, the faculty has particular expertise in the diagnosis, treatment and management of the following cancers: Breast; Colorectal; Dermatology and skin; Endocrine; Genitourinary; Gynecologic; Head and neck; Neurologic; Thoracic.
KEY FUNCTIONSTransformational Leadership:
Organizes and prioritizes work of the patient care team which include, but is not limited to, administration of chemotherapy/biotherapy agents, pump connects /disconnects, administration of antibiotic therapy, administration of IV fluids, rapid response to chemotherapy reactions/ emergencies, IV starts, etc.
Assures continuity of care as patients transition across the continuum through appropriate patient education and coordination of services.
Practice autonomously within the scope of professional nursing practice.
Structural Empowerment:Active member in shared decision making model at unit level.
Accountable for identifying barriers to patient care and solutions.
Active in developing strong relationships and partnerships with the organization to improve patient outcomes

Accountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area.

Assesses patient's needs for nursing care and other services.
Responsible for coverage for Surgical Oncology and Infusion patients as necessary.

EDUCATION Required:Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Preferred:Bachelors of Science in Nursing.
EXPERIENCEPreferred:
Prior experience in Radiation Oncology, Dermatology and/or Melanoma.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:Required:
Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Preferred:American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
