MD Anderson Cancer Center is Hiring a Research Technician - CNS - Radiation Oncology Research Near Houston, TX

The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.
The primary purpose of the Research Technician position is to provides technical assistance in carrying out assigned duties of various research projects Under supervision, prepares and conducts experiments. Assembles and operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus. Records data in accordance with methods requested.
Key Functions/job specific competencies
  • Perform experiments in support of research projects in the lab.
  • Perform flow cytometric assays for cancer and immune cells
  • Manage and maintain the lab's mouse colony by breeding, genotyping, euthanizing animals and performing injections and surgical procedures as needed.
  • Perform daily animal care and health check. Routine husbandry such as weaning and ear-tagging.
  • Assist in experiments that require knowledge of molecular biology, cell-based assays, and tissue culture techniques.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed records of the protocols and experimental data, including mouse record and data. Compile, write, and submit work reports to the supervisor.
  • Order centralized supplies, monitor lab expenses, and communicate cost-effective alternatives.
  • Organize and develop training to ensure that lab members have current knowledge of specialized lab procedures.
  • Perform laboratory maintenance such as maintaining/cleaning equipment, organizing repair procedures, maintain lab stocks, manage chemical inventory and safety records, and provide general lab support as needed.
  • Other duties may also be assigned
Education
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
Required: Two years of research experience. With preferred degree, no experience required.
Preferred: Work or training experience in a tumor immunology or cancer biology lab.
