Meals on Wheels People is Hiring an IT SUPPORT TECHNICIAN Near Portland, OR

General SummaryThe IT Support Technician provides technical assistance to Meals on Wheels People employees by answering questions and resolving employee computer and network-related problems in person, via telephone, and through remote tools. This will include, but not be limited to, computer hardware and peripheral devices, operating systems, software, and other information system-related technologies.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
  • Provide superb technical system and user support by responding to help desk tickets, calls, emails, and personal requests for technical support.
  • Establish, maintain, and increase employee satisfaction through professional, courteous, and caring service.
  • Document, track, and monitor problems to ensure a timely resolution; document issues and follow-up with employees.
  • Help users maximize employee productivity.
  • Educate users on security best-practices.
  • Offer guidance and help users solve common IT problems.
  • Use remote control tools to troubleshoot problems; know when to redirect problems that require an onsite solution.
  • Resolve technical problems, detect patterns of issues, and coordinate with staff regarding persistent problems.
  • Assist IT team in troubleshooting difficult or time-sensitive problems.
  • Monitor alerts and, as necessary, coordinate further action.
  • Maintain knowledge and expertise by learning new and evolving technologies and by achieving appropriate industry and professional certifications.
  • Contribute to the vision and direction of the organization by helping improve technical practices and choosing key technologies and issues to address as we grow.
  • Maintain and inventory company assets, including but not limited to hardware and software resources, test equipment, and other peripheral devices.
  • Be part of on-call rotation to assist after hours and on weekends when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned
Education & Knowledge
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or a related discipline; equivalent and directly related work experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows desktop support and maintenance as well as knowledge of Windows Server systems.
  • Knowledge of computer imaging / onboarding and other IT automation tools.
  • Familiarity with RMM tools is a plus.
Skills, Abilities & Experience
  • 2-4 years’ relevant experience.
  • Hardware experience with servers and workstations is required.
  • Experience with help desk and ticketing systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge and understanding of RMM software functionality.
  • Strong multitasking skills.
  • Technical creativity.
  • Ability to maintian a clean work environment.
  • Experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure, Microsoft Active Directory, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, virtualization, anti-virus software, Windows Updates, IIS, Terminal Services, and cloud services.
  • Proficient with Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint as well as Microsoft 365 technologies.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software or any proprietary software product is a plus.
  • Above-average ability to interpret, analyze, troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
  • Proven customer service and problem-solving skills, providing remote support services.
  • Ability to work independently with limited to no supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in a team-based environment.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Any satisfactory combination of experience, training and/or education that ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above qualifications.Working Conditions/Physical DemandsFast-paced, with significant people interaction. May be required to move up to 50lbs and occasional reaching, bending, and stooping. Sitting for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and phone. Ability to travel to remote sites when needed. Must pass drug and alcohol test and criminal background check.
