Mechanical Resource Group is Hiring a Senior Controls Technician Near Nashville, TN
We are seeking an experienced Senior HVAC Controls Technician with a minimum of 7 years in the field and expertise in HVAC control systems, particularly Niagara N4, graphical programming, and substantial experience with major building automation systems such as Johnson, Trane, or Distech. As a Senior HVAC Controls Technician, you will implement, maintain, and troubleshoot complex HVAC control systems and retrofits to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency in diverse environments.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, installation, and programming of advanced HVAC control systems using Niagara N4 and graphical programming tools
- Utilize expertise in major building automation systems such as Johnson, Trane, or Distech to integrate HVAC controls seamlessly
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians in system design, troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures
- Collaborate project managers and clients to understand system requirements and provide effective solutions
- Perform complex diagnostics, analyze system performance, and implement enhancements to optimize HVAC systems
- Lead the retrofit of complex controls systems and upgrades from pneumatic to DDC controls
- Assist Junior Controls Technicians with installation and troubleshooting
- Throubleshoot and update installed systems per Owner requirements
- Provide customer/owner training and service handoff
- Stay updated on industry standards, emerging technologies, and best practices in HVAC controls
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in HVAC controls and building automation systems
- Proficiency in Niagara N4 platform and graphical programming
· Extensive experience with at least one major building automation system: Johnson, Trane, or Distech
· Strong controls troubleshooting skills
· Knowledge of multiple HVAC control protocols (BACnet, LonTalk, Modbus, Niagara)
· Deep operational understanding of commercial HVAC equipment, AHU’s VAVs, boilers, chillers, etc.
· Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information effectively
· Leadership abilities to guide a team and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders
