Primary Purpose:
This inside sales role is a mix of account management as the primary day-to-day contact within your assigned book of business and driving growth by uncovering new opportunities within the existing customer base. Because this is a remote role, you also get to work out of your house! It also means we do a ton of video calls so we can build relationships better internally – it’s way more fun than seeing a circle with someone’s initials, which is the alternative. You’ll also spend time getting to know your customers and working with them over the phone. Email is great for certain things (don’t worry, there’s a bunch of that as well), but real relationships and connection come from phone conversations. We serve the automotive industry including part stores, heavy duty dealers, mobile tool dealers, and paint, body and equipment shops. We carry over 150,000 items (don’t worry, you do not have to learn them all) and there are opportunities to help your customers capture new business or grow your book of business in every interaction you have.
This role also includes frequent interaction and collaboration with the outside sales team and other departments. If you don’t like people or talking on the phone with customers, a customer-facing sales role is probably not for you. Successful execution of this role consists of exceeding your sales target for the year by taking care of your customers (do what you say you’re going to do and follow up accordingly) and being likable, humble, curious, and tenacious. Done successfully, the customers are happy and you’ve earned quite a lot from the sales incentive plan. We believe in empowerment and accountability as an organization. You are the CEO of your book of business and are ultimately the one responsible for the good stuff and when things go wrong. We take a team selling approach with our customers which means that your accounts will also be assigned to an outside sales representative who is trying to take care of and grow the accounts. Our best performing reps find ways to partner successfully with their inside or outside counterparts to delight our customers!
