Position Summary : Reporting to the University Librarian, the Student Success Librarian oversees and manages reference and instructional functions, liaises with the Student Success Center, FYI / GLE, and other student success initiatives on campus to provide appropriate library support.
Supports the library needs of the university’s graduate programs and all distance learners. Leads, and serves as coordinator for FPU’s Open Education initiatives.
Participates in university and professional activities, serves on university committees, stays abreast of national trends and issues related to reference, instruction, and student success, and makes professional contributions.
Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions of the Position : Provides reference service. Supports the library needs of the university’s graduate programs.
Expectations : Ability to handle highly confidential material. All information must be kept in strict confidence and should not be discussed anywhere other than in the appropriate professional setting.
Exemplary customer skills, including dealing effectively with the students, faculty, staff, and general public both in person and over the telephone.
Maintain professionalism when dealing with all staff and other customers. Demonstrates understanding and sensitivity to the needs of all prospective as well as current students.
Ability to identify problems and to propose feasible solutions. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines.
