Mediabistro is Hiring a Media coordinator Near Seward, AK

This position will be part of a team that sources, produces, edits, and publishes content that benefits our partners in the educational and research communities across the state and the Alaska SeaLife Center (ASLC).

This role will coordinate closely with our Community Organized Restoration and Learning (CORaL) Network partners and the ASLC education, research, and communications teams to produce short media stories that advance the mission of the organizations.

Education / Training Requirements :

Bachelor’s degree in photojournalism, filmmaking, multi-media, communications, or similar field.Responsibilities :

Responsible for outreach that is relevant, co-created, and culturally responsive to our seven regional communities and the communities impacted by the oil spill, including Kodiak Island and the Kenai Peninsula.

Communicate externally with ASLC stakeholders to build strong partnerships and ensure a successful outcome for all parties.

Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop and implement effective communication strategies.Develop new ideas or approaches to engage, educate, and inspire diverse audiences through media communications.

Work respectfully and effectively with people from a wide array of cultures and communities.Plan, develop, and execute diverse media projects, including video production, photography, blog creation, simple graphic design, and some social media content.

Take the lead in working with our partners to produce monthly CORaL Network newsletters, videos, and more.Prioritize projects to be completed in the near future while also having a vision for a long-term collection of works.

Work alongside the ASLC Marketing and Communications team on various projects.Play a critical role on the team that puts on major fundraising events, including photography for the ASLC online art auction.

Foster good relations with visitors, volunteers, community leaders, contractors, and fellow staff members by promoting positive attitudes, goodwill, cooperation, and high standards of service.

Comply with all Alaska SeaLife Center policies, procedures, and programs.Perform other related duties as assigned.Other Skills and Abilities :

Prior experience working with Alaskan Native communities is a plus.Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to multitask and prioritize while working independently and a strong desire to see the completion of projects.Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Lightroom, Adobe Creative Suite, and video editing programs like Final Cut Pro or Premiere Pro.Physical Requirements :
