The Community Engagement Specialist is the face and voice of Medica and its Medicaid program. This is a highly visible role, with an emphasis on maintaining and developing organizational relationships. The Community Engagement Specialist will be responsible for both establishing and continuing to build partnerships and meaningful relationships with organizations throughout the state, focusing on those organizations that support underrepresented populations served by Medica.

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
• 3 plus years’ experience in community organization, outreach, advocacy, housing, or a similar role.
• Fluency in a second language highly desirable and preference will be given to candidates who are bilingual in Somali.
• Must be willing to travel throughout the Minnesota regional area to attend events.
• Must be able to attend public events in outdoor venues in all weather conditions, as well as on nights and weekends.
• Must be able to sit and stand for long periods. Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
• Must have access to reliable, working vehicle (reimbursement for mileage, parking, and local travel expenses will be provided).

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Two years’ experience with relationship management with providers and community health organizations.
• Solid understanding of health care and managed care, including Medicaid and Medicare.
• Previous healthcare experience a plus.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain excellent relationships with others.
• Excellent public speaking skills with the capacity to serve as a spokesperson for the organization.
• Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse ethnic, economic, racial and cultural backgrounds.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task on a daily basis.
• Experience using Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint), as well virtual platforms (e.g. WebEx, Zoom).
• This person should be comfortable meeting new people, developing relationships with a diverse group of partners, and working closely with the entire Medica Medicaid Programs team.

This position is a Hub role, which requires an employee to occasionally come onsite to the designated office – Minnetonka, MN – for applicable heads-up work. Frequency is determined by business need as decided by leadership.

The full salary range for this position is $54,100 - $92,800. Annual salary range placement will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, applicable certifications and/or licensure, the position's scope and responsibility, internal pay equity and external market salary data.
