Key Responsibilities
- Assess the health care needs of patients/residents and develop a plan of care to meet interdisciplinary goals.
- Act on significant changes in the patient's/resident's health condition.
- Carry out the plan of care by performing or assigning delegated tasks.
- Collect and document pertinent data in the electronic patient/resident medical record.
- Complete nursing assessments within required time frames, in accordance with policy and procedure.
- Identify and act on predictable needs of the patient/resident.
- Meet the health care needs of patients/residents by assessing and assisting them to meet expressed needs.
- Address the emotional and spiritual needs of patients/residents and/or families.
- Prioritize and complete tasks within the RN's assigned shift.
- Update patient/resident care plans.
- Notify the assigned physician of any changes in condition.
- Report incidents of verbal or physical abuse immediately to the Nurse Manager or designated off-shift nursing leadership.
- Perform head-to-toe assessments.
- Insert IV lines and manage peripheral and central lines, including PICC lines.
- Administer medications, including IV.
- Coordinate and participate in patient admissions and discharges.
- Measure vital signs and conduct hemodynamic monitoring, including pain assessment and pulse oximetry.
- Perform wound care, including dressing changes and obtaining wound cultures.
- Obtain and deliver specimens to the lab.
- Perform tracheostomy care and non-acute/acute ventilator care.
- Perform suctioning, including oral, nasogastric, and tracheostomy.
- Perform deep suctioning and obtain specimens.
- Administer tube feedings.
- Assist with urinary and bowel elimination, including catheters, colostomies, and digital stimulation.
- Provide patient/resident and family education regarding health, diagnoses, and medication administration.
- Respond to and assist in emergency situations.
- Provide clinical oversight to Licensed Practical Nurses, Nursing Assistants, and Health Technicians.
- Minimum 1 year of experience required.
- Ability to work 8 and 12-hour shifts.
