Medical Gas Service Technician Apprentice

Job Specifics

This is an entry level position for any person interested in medical gas and vacuum systems and equipment associated with healthcare facilities. Candidates will start their career journey by working through a one-year paid training program as a medical gas service technician apprentice, which will prepare them to become a certified ASSE 6040 Medical Gas Service Technician.

Job Training

The service technician apprentice will train side by side with an experienced Senior Medical Gas System Maintenance Technician for a full year. MTA’s documented training program will include:

• General knowledge of Medical Gas Systems codes and their application.
• Operational, mechanical, and electrical theory of medical gas systems and equipment.
• Proper maintenance and repair of medical gas equipment.
• Testing of medical gas systems and associated equipment.
• Documentation and record keeping.
• Medical Gas System Terminology.
• ASSE 6040 Certification

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift 50lbs.
• Ability to carry equipment and climb ladders
• Ability to sit, stand, lift, bend, & hold equipment for extended periods of time.

Position Type/ Expected Hours

• This is a full-time position.
• Works hours are Monday -Friday but will vary based on specific job/facility requirements.
• Some nights and weekends are required along with overnight travel dependent upon specific jobs/facility’s needs.
• Overtime is required when necessary.

Travel

• Travel to other regions in Florida to train alongside experienced Medical Gas Systems Technicians will be required.
• This could include overnight stays.

Qualifications

• Excellent attitude, work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Basic computer skills and experience an asset
• Commitment to obtain the Medical Gas Systems Generalist certification in 90-180 days.
