About MedStar Georgetown University Hospital’s Medical Intermediate Care - 2 North
2 North is a recently renovated 18 bed adult Intermediate Care Unit with all private rooms. All of the rooms on 2 North are outfitted with the latest GE bedside physiological equipment to provide continuous cardiac and pulse oximetry monitoring.Clinical Nurses on 2 North will utilize innovative best practice processes to provide expert care for acutely ill patients who have a diverse range of medical and surgical diagnoses. The Clinical Nurses on 2 North are the hospital CAPD champions. Other diagnoses seen include end-stage renal disease, end-stage liver failure, chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, sepsis, CHF, COPD, and GI bleeds.As a unified team, 2 North provides comprehensive, safe, and quality care with warmth, respect, and compassion in the spirit of cura personalis. 2 North has been recognized with the Beacon Award for Excellence-Silver Level by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses!

Position Summary
Professional care provider who assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the nursing care of patients from admission through discharge. In collaboration with the patient and family, provides theory-based professional nursing care and coordinates care delivery with various members of the interdisciplinary team.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited nursing program preferred. Associates degree from an accredited School of nursing required. BSN enrollment required within 6 months of start date and completion within 3 years.
Experience: 1 year of RN experience required.
License/Certifications: DC Registered Nurse License required; CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation) required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Basic math skills. Verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills required.
