The Assistant Director of Quality & Safety is responsible for assisting the Director of Quality, HIM in planning, organizing and managing the coordination of the organization's performance improvement activities related to Quality and Safety. The Assistant Director will function as the hospital's Quality and Patient Safety officer and assist in the areas of risk management communicating routinely with Physician Leadership and Medical Staffing. Education
Bachelor's degree in nursing required or
Master's degree in nursing preferred
Experience
3-4 years Quality & patient safety, & risk experience (willing to supplement quality & patient safety experience with clinical experience in the areas of critical care, emergency, or perioperative service lines). preferred
Licenses and Certifications
RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Current Maryland RN License required and
CPPS - Certified Professional in Patient Safety Nationally Accredited Certification in Quality, Patient Safety, or Risk Management preferred

Ability to coordinate quality data review from the hospital's EMR.
Ability to create and interpret data information in Excel, CSV, Crimson, and HPM.
Assists the Director in establishing and meeting annual goals of the Quality, Patient Safety, and Risk department.
Leads all quality reviews for ongoing physician peer and focused peer reviews.
Performs medical record reviews and communicates routinely with physician leadership and Medical Staff Office on potential quality issues and identified trends.
Advises the Quality Director, Medical Staff, and Hospital Leadership immediately of identified trends, and potential quality issues.
Collaborates with Quality Coordinators in maintaining the core measures program and external reporting requirements.
Actively participate in the development and execution of the Quality Management Program.
Develop and coordinate quality information from Cerner, the electronic health record, and other appropriate databases.
Ability to lead, coach, counsel associates in all areas of the department.
Assist in Mid-Year and Annual Performance Reviews.
