MedStar Health is looking for aDosimetrist to join ourteam at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital!
As a Dosimetrist, you will design treatment plans with the aid of a treatment planning system, calculates treatment time for approved plans, handles radioactive sources during implantation and removal of interstitial implants, and prepares shielding blocks for electron treatments and assists in quality assurance checks of treatment units and treatment procedures. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown's philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards.

Primary Duties:
Designs treatment plans of varying complexity using input from films and contours taken during the simulation and from CT (Computed Tomography) scans.
Calculates treatment time for approved plans for external beam therapy. Interacts with technologist's inpatient setup to ensure accurate delivery of plans. Calculates dose to tissues within and outside radiation fields. Input treatment data in Veriflex System.
Performs brachytherapy treatment planning andassists in the insertion and removal of sources. Conducts room survey, packs radioactive waste. Performs quality assurance checks on brachytherapy procedures. Fabricates bolus and compensators prepare shielding blocks for electron treatments.
Performs quality control checks on the treatment planning system and treatment machines. Conducts dose measurements on patients (TLD, film diodes). Performs quality control checks on radiation measurements and/or calculations. Performs radiation measurements and calculations for patient treatment.
Attends weekly chart rounds. Participates in clinical teaching. Exemplifies Guest and Staff Relations in all activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and completion of a Dosimetrist Program.
5-7 years' experience as a radiation therapist or completion of dosimetry program.
Certified Medical Dosimetrist preferred.
Proton experience preferred.
