Overview

Manages employee benefits and works as a liaison for employees for benefit questions.

Responsibilities

  • Be an expert on benefit plans and be a resource for employees.
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
  • Working understanding of PPACA requirements.
  • Manage contracts with benefit vendors. Be a liaison to our current Third Party Administrator (TPA).
  • Run analysis on current benefit utilization and trends. Provide monthly reporting on benefits usage and utilization.
  • Recommends benefits programs to management by studying employee requirements and trends and developments in benefits offered by other organizations.
  • Coordinate open enrollment/benefit re-enrollment for employees.
  • Analyzing benefit options and predicting future costs, including current cost management.
  • Proactively manages plan costs and proposes cost containment strategies.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; obtaining qualified opinions; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Resolves employee questions and problems by interpreting benefit policies and procedures.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Make any changes to the Summary Plan Description each year.
  • Update benefit forms each year as needed.
  • Update employee handbook with benefit changes or updates.

Qualifications

  • Experience with payroll and/or compensation preferred.
  • Detailed work and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze problems and create solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and professionally.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under stress.
  • Word processing, graphics and spreadsheet skills.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Conflict resolution and customer service skills
  • Sit with intermittent walking.
  • Manual dexterity for such duties as stapling, collating, sorting, filing, typing, writing, etc.
  • Communicate (hearing & speech) with individuals in person and by phone.
  • Visually read reports, computer screen, etc.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities with efficiency and accuracy.
