Join our team at Memorial Park Conservancy in Houston, Texas. We are seeking Visitor Services Park Presence Associates to provide front-line visitor services to our park users. Depending upon the scheduled shift, this position will be responsible for front desk duties at the Cullen Running Trails Center and/or Park Presence throughout Memorial Park.

 Front desk duties at the Cullen Running Trails Center

• Proactively greet and welcome visitors to the Park, assisting visitors with information about the Park (Areas to visit, directions, things to do, upcoming events, etc.), and answering main phone line
• Responsible for opening and/or closing the building at beginning/end of shift
• Monitors cleanliness of Running Trails Center and its restrooms, assisting with basic cleaning duties
• Assists with entering facility and park rentals into reservations system
• Perform compliance checks prior to and after reservations
• Processes point-of-sale transactions
• Inform and enforce Park rules and guidelines as necessary
• Provide administrative support to MPC team

Park Presence duties throughout the Park

• Works outdoors to patrol trails, picnic areas, and surrounding areas to ensure the safety and happiness of park visitors
• Collaborate with Park Operations team to monitor the Park’s safety and integrity[HC1] 
• Roving the Park and answering visitor questions, primarily in Eastern Glades, the Land Bridge and Prairie, and Picnic Loop (and other permitted activity areas of the Park), as well as on the Seymour Lieberman Trail and natural surface trails.
• Fielding questions from park visitors and providing information regarding access to trails, events, and any additional information that can assist our visitors and help make their experience a great one
• Educating park visitors on programs, activities and events that Memorial Park offers 
• Enforcement of Memorial Park rules, guidelines, and City ordinances 
• In-park presence to deter vandalism or theft 
• Support the MPC Engagement Team at select events and activities 
• Work with Park Operations to communicate with HPD and Park Rangers 
• Monitor fire pits and fires left behind by visitors in Picnic Loop and Eastern Glades 
• Helping with emergency and non-emergency situations and reporting non emergent issues to the Memorial Park Conservancy staff, and emergent situations to Houston Police Department. 
• Assisting with Conservancy programming and fundraising events 
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalency 
• Bilingual - English/Spanish, a plus
• Customer service experience
• Must have a valid Texas driver’s license, or ability to obtain one within first 60 days of employment
• Must be able to work independently without direct supervision
• Ability to communicate clearly with diverse groups in a tactful and pleasant way, de-escalation skills and crisis management are a plus
• Possesses good judgement and have strong decision-making skills
• Memorial Park is open 365 days a year. The ability to early mornings, evenings and weekends is a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office. 
• Ability to learn and use the Conservancy’s reservations software.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to work in all types of weather
• Must be able to lift up to 25lbs and be on your feet for prolonged periods of time.
• Must feel comfortable driving a utility vehicle
• “All hands-on-deck” approach, including moving briskly throughout the Park.

 Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour, double pay on holidays and weekend shift differential.
