Mental Health Association in Orange County, Inc. is Hiring a Compensation & Payroll Specialist Near Middletown, NY

REPORTS TO: Director of Human Resources
JOB OBJECTIVES: Provides administrative support and work as an integrated team member to MHA's payroll team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct an agency PTO audit utilizing payroll records and update data in Paylocity. Distribute information to employees.
  • Assist with processing bi-weekly payroll in Paylocity.
  • Assist with calculating compensation adjustments including retro salary amounts for employee merit increases and position changes.
  • Assist with review of all staff payroll entries to ensure PTO, holiday time, merit increases, OT, bilingual rates, etc. are applicable and entered accurately.
  • Update employee hours log on a bi-weekly basis and submit to payroll team.
  • Assist with calculations relating to Wage & Salary adjustments. Process and submit documentation to payroll team.
  • Assist with data entry relating to tax withholding.
  • Generate payroll reports as needed, including year-end reports such as W-2's.
  • Assist with maintaining organized and secure payroll records that are in compliance with agency and legal requirements.
OTHER DUTIES:
  • In the spirit of teamwork, answer MHA's main office phone as needed.

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent with 3 to 5 year's demonstrated experience in payroll and timekeeping.
Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
Detail orientated, able to multi-task and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and reporting requirements.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Team player with a willingness to assist colleagues as needed.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT/BENEFITS:
  • Non-Exempt
  • 15 hours per week.
  • Paid holidays, PTO and sick leave according to MHA policy.
